The Austrian technical consumer goods market was negative in Q4, but is still growing in full year comparison

GfK TEMAX® results for Austria, Q4 2018

Vienna, February 11th, 2019 – With a decrease of 1.2 percent, the fourth quarter ended the year 2018 for the Austrian technical consumer goods (TCG) market. Mostly driven by the losses of the Consumer Electronics and Telecom sector, but also intensified by declining turnovers of the IT and Photo market. Even the growth of Major and Small Domestic Appliances cannot turn the negative trend of the whole market.  Although the last quarter was slightly negative, the complete year 2018 showed a growth of 3 percent for the technical consumer goods in Austria. Comparing the complete year period January-December 2018 with 2017, only Consumer Electronics and Photo keep their negative outcome. All other sectors grow in the full year on year comparison.
