Growth fuelled by Consumer Electronics and Telecommunications in the Philippines

GfK TEMAX® results for the Philippines, Q3 2017

Manila, October 30, 2017 – The Philippine technical consumer goods (TCG) market registered 17.8% growth in the third quarter of 2017, compared to the same quarter of the previous year.  Sales value rose to PHP 57.748 billion in Q3 of this year from PHP 49.039 billion in the same quarter of the previous year.

This growth was driven most strongly by Photo, Telecommunications, and Consumer Electronics, which sales value increased by 26.6 percent, 22.3 percent, and 19.8 percent, respectively.  Minor increases in sales value was also recorded for Information Technology (13.2%) and Major Domestic Appliances (8.4%). However, sales of Office Equipment and Consummables contracted sharply by 31.3 percent in value.
