Growth fuelled by Consumer Electronics and Telecommunications in the Philippines

GfK TEMAX® results for the Philippines, Q2 2017

Manila, August 4, 2017 – In the second quarter of 2017, the Philippine technical consumer goods (TCG) market generated revenues of PHP 54.650 billion, compared to PHP 50.143 billion in the same quarter of the previous year.  This translates to a 9.0 percent growth in sales value.

This growth was driven most strongly by Consumer Electronics and Telecommunications, which sales value increased by 19.3 percent and 11.2 percent, respectively.  Minor increases in sales value was also recorded for Major Domestic Appliances (3.9%) and Photo (1.8%).  However, sales of Office Equipment and Consumables contracted sharply by 24.7 percent in value, while a minor drop (1.0%) was noted in the sales of Informational Technology.
