Growth in taxes affected sales of Technical Consumer Goods Market.

GfK TEMAX results for Colombia, Q1 2017

Bogota, May 17, 2017 – In the first quarter of 2017 the Technical Consumer Goods Market grew by 5.3 percent, compared to the same period of 2016. Despite showing positive growth, sales were affected due to higher taxes – which impacted prices – and the presence of Holy Week on March 2016, affecting growths of that month.

Best performing sectors were telecommunications and office equipment with growth rates of 19.1 percent and 11.3 percent respectively. However, is important to take into account the deceleration presented on major domestic appliances, with a growth rate of 0.8 percent and consumer electronics that fell by 3.8 percent.
