Bogota, February 6th 2018 –The Colombian market of Technological Consumption Goods (TCG) in the last quarter of 2017 presented a moderately growth of 1.2% in comparison to the same period of 2016. This outcome reflects a slight improvement relative to the preceding quarter. It is worth mentioning the great expansion in MDA and Photo sector along the year. Nevertheless, according to the dynamic of the industry Telecommunications was the sector with the major contribution to Colombian growth.
The last quarter of the year was affected by different seasonal events such as Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Christmas. These events caused that Mass Merchandisers retailers carry out huge promotions in online and offline channels, reason why consumption boosted in the quarter. Although, this growth was not enough to overcome the growth of Q3. Furthermore, Colombian government has been stimulating consumption through stronger macroeconomic policies. Consequently, consumption confidence index and consumers demand had improved considerably.
